What fails first is rarely the shingle itself. It is the flashing at a chimney, the ventilation that let moisture sit in the decking, or a gutter run that was never sized for the water coming off the roof above it. Replace only the visible layer and the same failure comes back.

Usually, yes. Matching an existing GAF profile and color is something we do regularly, including on partial-area work after storm damage.

Does my roof definitely need replacing?
